colonizer or colonized?

I have been researching the witch hunts. It makes me cry. They estimate that millions of European mothers were raped, tortured and murdered for things as simple as not becoming pregnant after a few years of marriage. Earth People and Original Practitioners of ancient ways of life dismissed as "pagans," "heathens," "witches." To know that these were the very herbalists and elders who carried the knowledge of how to be interdependent with nature, brings a tear to my eye.

I see pale skinned people differently now. I can see their ancestors in their eyes. I can see their songs, their ceremonies, their sacred mountains, their languages going extinct due to Roman expansion and their mothers. I see the massacres, the torture, the rape, the illusion. I can see all the little boys and men who watched their women get hurt feel so helpless. Blaming themselves for things they could not have stopped. I see myself, as I cannot speak my mother tongue either.

It has been so healing for me to see these mothers, even when they are being burned alive.

May their souls forever rest in peace and may we remember where these processes of colonization started. May we stop these cycles here and now.

In our native communities we say that a nation is not defeated until the women's hearts are on the ground. This is why the dark targets the women- they are the spinal chord of society, they are the source of life and the first teachers of the children.

I pray for those people who are working to reindigenize the European narrative, recovering what was lost and who visit these sacred mountains that lost their people, and therefore their prayers, to slaughter. I was very blessed to visit a sacred mountain in Geneva and she gave me many blessings and taught me many things. They still work! They just need to be lit up again...

It seems to me that no matter how much the abuse of generations apparently strips us of our heritage, our community ties, our rituals, our homelands, there is a power source specific to the culture of our ancestors that we carry with us and that guides us no matter how lonely lost and detached from our roots we feel. Perhaps it lives in our changing dna and we pass it to our childrne. I see that many of us are carrying this force silently, often unaware of it...but it is so strong and its very purpose is to bring us back to our people, back home. The future may not be what we expect or even what we hope for, but I am certain that it has a purpose that is absolutely exquisite and flawless in its design, even as it simultaneously celebrates all the flaws and mess of being human, as one of many relations.

Thank You, Lyla June, for posting this! I belong to a group called The Grandmothers. They are an aspect of the Divine that has come at this time to restore the balance of Yin and Yang on Earth at this time.
All over the world women (and a few special men) recognize the need to repair the rips and tears in the Net of Light (Hozho ?) that connects all life here and in the universes.
Much of this repair work is growing in Europe where so much suppression of women and their YIN qualities has happened. The time of balancing is Now. The Grandmothers say they will do the work with or without us because Mother Earth has asked for help and they will NOT allow her to be destroyed.
The Great Council of Grandmothers appeared to Sharon McErlane in 1996 and trained her to be their spokesperson. They told her they took on the aspect of Grandmothers because a mother loves her children but a Grandmother loves ALL THE CHILDREN.
